On April 3, Lu Weibing, the President of Xiaomi Group, took to Weibo to express his concerns over the recent surge in memory prices. He highlighted that the current price escalation has been exceptionally steep, with the cost of identical memory configurations nearly quadrupling since the first quarter of the previous year. To illustrate, the price of the 12+512GB memory variant has jumped by around 1500 yuan, while the 16+1TB version has witnessed an even more substantial hike. Lu Weibing emphasized that these dramatic price increases have significantly impacted REDMI, a brand renowned for its commitment to delivering unparalleled value for money. Consequently, Xiaomi has been compelled to marginally adjust or revert to the original retail prices of certain models, and the company earnestly hopes to garner the understanding and support of its valued consumers.
