Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing took to Weibo to share that the latest wave of memory price escalations has far outstripped initial forecasts. He pointed out that, compared to the first quarter of the previous year, the cost of memory for the same specifications has soared nearly fourfold. Specifically, the 12+512GB memory variant has witnessed a price hike of roughly 1,500 yuan, while the 16+1TB version has seen an even steeper increase. This unprecedented price surge has dealt a significant blow to REDMI, a brand renowned for its unbeatable cost-performance ratio. Consequently, Xiaomi has been left with no alternative but to marginally adjust the retail prices of certain models upwards or revert them to their pre-hike price points.
