According to an Apple analyst from Barclays Bank, Apple’s foldable iPhone Fold is slated to make its debut in September, coinciding with the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series. However, shipments will be postponed until December, adhering to a market introduction strategy reminiscent of the iPhone X’s release in 2017. Positioned as an ultra-premium model, the Chinese version of the device will start at a price point exceeding 12,000 yuan.
In terms of design, the iPhone Fold boasts a horizontally oriented, book-style inward fold, featuring dual screens. It incorporates an under-display front-facing camera on the inner screen, with shallow creases and a hinge mechanism designed to withstand over one million folds without fatigue. The device’s body is constructed from titanium alloy, offering a blend of lightweight construction and durability.
Performance-wise, the iPhone Fold will debut with the A20 Pro chip, coupled with 12GB of RAM. Face ID has been replaced by a side power button that integrates Touch ID functionality. Additionally, the physical SIM tray has been eliminated in favor of Apple’s proprietary C2 baseband. The imaging system comprises dual 48-megapixel main rear cameras, along with a combination of front and rear cameras for versatile photography options.
The battery capacity of the iPhone Fold ranges between 5,000 and 5,800mAh, supporting both fast charging and wireless charging capabilities. The device will run on iOS 27, featuring true split-screen functionality, although it will not include the Stage Manager feature.
