Omdia's latest forecast indicates that by 2026, global shipments of desktops, notebooks, and workstations are expected to decline by 12%, with the total volume dropping to 245 million units. This trend is primarily driven by the sharp rise in memory and storage prices, which are projected to increase by at least 60% in the first quarter of 2026, with continued upward pressure thereafter. Since the first quarter of 2025, the cost of mainstream memory and storage configurations has risen by $90 to $165, imposing financial pressure on PC manufacturers and forcing them to adjust their market strategies. Shipments of all types of PC products are being affected, with desktop shipments expected to drop to 53.2 million units and notebook shipments expected to decline to 192.2 million units.
