On March 5, the Demumu team—formerly known as the 'Simile' team and having garnered considerable attention after the 'Simile' App went viral and was subsequently taken down—officially declared its return. The team announced that, with the solid foundation of their Hangzhou-based company now in place, they would stay true to their initial vision and set out on a fresh chapter.

Previously, the 'Simile' App was crafted by Yuejing (Zhengzhou) Technical Services Co., Ltd. Designed as a lightweight safety tool for individuals living alone, it enabled the linking of smart bracelets to keep track of physiological indicators and initiate emergency alerts. Users were required to designate emergency contacts and check in daily. In the event that a user failed to check in for 48 consecutive hours, the system would automatically dispatch an email to notify their contacts.

The App made its debut on the Apple App Store on June 10, 2025. Later, owing to naming disputes and shifts in operational strategy, it was rebranded as Demumu in January 2026, with ambitions to venture into international markets. However, the 'Simile' App was eventually removed from major domestic app stores, while the overseas iteration, Demumu, persisted in its operations.

Now, the Demumu team has resurfaced under the banner of their new enterprise, Yuejing Future (Hangzhou) Technology Co., Ltd. Founder Lv Gongchen has dedicated himself to full-time entrepreneurship and has outlined plans to create new safety-centric Apps to keep catering to the needs of solo dwellers.
