Google announced today that it will no longer wait for the approval of the settlement agreement with Epic Games and will immediately proceed with multiple significant changes, which will be gradually implemented globally and completed by 2027. Sameer Samat, Google's Android lead, stated in a developer blog that starting June 30, the app store service fee rate in the United States, United Kingdom, and European Economic Area (EEA) will be reduced from 30% to 20% or lower. Additionally, developers who choose to use the Google Play billing system will be subject to an additional region-specific 5% billing fee, calculated separately from the service fee.
