HP stated during its fiscal Q1 2026 earnings call that the material cost structure for assembling personal computers has undergone significant changes, with the weight of memory costs nearly doubling within a quarter. Currently, memory accounts for approximately 35% of the total material costs of the entire machine, compared to just 15% to 18% in the previous quarter. The company expects this proportion to continue rising this year.
