On February 7, the Shanghai Municipal People's Government hosted a themed press conference. During the event, Lou Guojian, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, announced that in 2026, Shanghai will set up a dedicated platform to facilitate collaboration between tech firms and elderly care institutions. This platform will spearhead joint research efforts on tech products tailored for elderly care and assess their effectiveness in real-world applications to foster continuous functional enhancements. Additionally, the city will roll out supportive policies, including a one-time reward of RMB 100,000 for the development of practical application scenarios for elderly care tech products or for engaging in joint research projects with technology companies.
