On January 25, tech media outlet 9to5mac reported that Apple reached a settlement early last year in a class-action lawsuit regarding Siri's 'illegal and intentional recording.' The lawsuit dates back to 2019. At the time, Apple denied the improper allegations but subsequently strengthened Siri's privacy protection measures, ultimately choosing to settle. The settlement covers users who purchased Siri-enabled devices between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024, and experienced unexpected activations. The total settlement amount is $95 million, with actual compensation of approximately $8.02 per device and a maximum of $40.1 per individual. Compensation payments will be distributed starting from January 23, 2026.
