SanDisk has recently made an announcement regarding its foray into the retail client-side solid-state drive (SSD) market with a new gaming SSD brand, SANDISK Optimus. This move comes as a replacement for the WD_BLACK Black Disk and WD Blue Blue Disk series, which were inherited by SanDisk following its split from Western Digital. The specific rebranding correspondences are as follows:
The former high-end, flagship WD_BLACK SN8xxx series has now been rebranded as SANDISK Optimus GX PRO. This series was previously known for its elite performance and was highly regarded among tech enthusiasts. The enthusiast and gamer-oriented WD_BLACK SN7xxx series, which catered to the needs of passionate gamers, has been renamed SANDISK Optimus GX. Lastly, the mainstream, everyday-use WD Blue SN5xxx series, which was a popular choice for regular users, has been rebranded simply as SANDISK Optimus.
In addition to these rebranding efforts, SanDisk will also be launching new products under the SANDISK Optimus banner, such as the SANDISK Optimus GX PRO 8100. Furthermore, the new appearance of the products formerly known as the Blue Disk series will now feature a sleek gray theme, adding a touch of modernity to their design.
