According to Asia Business Outlook, Shenzhen-based AR glasses manufacturer RayNeo made a significant announcement on the eve of CES 2026. The company revealed that it has successfully secured strategic investments from Unicom Innovation Capital, a subsidiary of China Unicom, as well as the CM Beijing and CM Shanghai funds, which are subsidiaries of China Mobile. Additionally, Goldstone Investment, a subsidiary of CITIC Securities, joined this investment round, bringing the total investment to over 1 billion yuan. This marks the inaugural foray of China's major state-owned telecom operators into the smart glasses industry.
RayNeo also provided a sneak peek, stating that it will introduce the world's first eSIM-enabled AR smart glasses, named the 'RayNeo X3 Pro Project eSIM,' during CES 2026. This innovative product boasts a binocular full-color MicroLED display solution and incorporates an eSIM communication module that supports the 4G protocol. It enables users to make calls, translate languages, play music, and access the internet in real-time without relying on a smartphone connection. This makes it the first truly independently communicating consumer-grade AR smart glasses on the market.
