On the New Year's Day holiday, a gamer took to social media to share a concerning incident. While gaming on New Year's Eve, the interface of their RTX 5090 graphics card melted and caught fire. The gamer, known as Alfredwooden, recounted that on the evening of New Year's Day, they were engrossed in playing Baldur's Gate 3 using the Gigabyte AORUS GeForce RTX 5090 MASTER ICE. After around three hours of uninterrupted gaming, a pungent smell of burning plastic suddenly permeated the room. Acting swiftly, they shut down the system for inspection. What they discovered was alarming: the 12V - 2x6 power connector and cable of the graphics card had sustained severe burns. The originally pristine white cable sheath had turned a conspicuous yellow and was charred. Although NVIDIA has widely implemented the enhanced 12V - 2x6 interface in the RTX 50 series to mitigate the risk of interface melting that plagued previous generations, this particular incident suggests that the solution has not entirely eradicated potential dangers.
