Recently, a Reddit user with the handle u/divinethreshold shared that their Sapphire RX 9070 XT Nitro+ graphics card abruptly crashed, displaying a black screen, after nearly nine months of reliable service. Upon closer inspection, it became evident that the 16-pin power connector on the graphics card had succumbed to overheating, resulting in damage to all the pins in the top row. The user had been powering their system with a Corsair AX1200i power supply unit (PSU), which does not come equipped with a native 16-pin connector. To bridge this gap, they resorted to using the three 8-pin to 16-pin adapters that were bundled with the graphics card. However, these types of adapters have a notorious reputation for being unreliable, and this unfortunate incident serves as yet another stark reminder of that reality.
