According to The Elec, Apple has embarked on the research and development journey for OLED panels tailored specifically for the 24-inch iMac. Sources within the supply chain reveal that both Samsung and LG have been sent Request for Information (RFI) documents by Apple. These documents are aimed at collecting detailed insights into the technical capabilities and proposals of these suppliers.

Once this information-gathering phase is concluded, Apple will advance to the Request for Quotation (RFQ) stage, where it will officially invite suppliers to submit their pricing quotes. At present, the exact specifications for the panels are still under deliberation. However, the envisioned goal is to achieve a 24-inch display boasting a brightness level of 600 nits and an impressive pixel density of 281 PPI.

Apple has set its sights on finalizing the development of these panels between the years 2027 and 2028. It's worth noting that the launch timeline for the entire machine (referring to the market introduction of the complete product) is anticipated to extend beyond this development window.
