Two years prior, Samsung introduced an enhanced iteration of its inaugural household robot, Ballie. Initially, the company projected that the product would hit the market by the close of 2025. Subsequently, it adjusted the timeline, stating that the robot would debut in the summer of that same year. However, Samsung failed to meet this deadline. As the year drew to a close, Samsung formally announced a delay in Ballie's launch, without specifying a new anticipated release date.
A representative from Samsung explained that the company is persistently refining the robot's technology to ensure a superior user experience. This suggests that Ballie has not yet attained the requisite level of sophistication for widespread commercial distribution. At present, it remains ambiguous whether Samsung is focusing its efforts on enhancing the hardware, the software, or both aspects simultaneously.
The original Ballie prototype made its debut six years ago, yet at that time, Samsung did not disclose any concrete plans for mass production or a market launch. The upgraded version, unveiled two years ago, boasted a fresh design and expanded functionalities. During previous promotional campaigns, Ballie was lauded for its multifaceted capabilities. This year, it was further revealed that Ballie's AI prowess is underpinned by Google's Gemini large language model.
