Meta has made an announcement stating that, in compliance with the mandates of the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA), it will roll out a third-party chat integration capability for WhatsApp across Europe in the upcoming months. This will facilitate seamless interoperability with external applications. The implementation of this feature will occur in stages. Specifically, the functionality for third-party chat groups is projected to debut in 2025. Moreover, by 2027, the platform aims to achieve comprehensive messaging interoperability, encompassing calls and video chats. Meta has underscored its commitment to preserving WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption (E2EE), thereby guaranteeing the security of user communications as they traverse various platforms.
