As reported by The Verge, following the most recent system update for the Nintendo Switch2, an in-depth examination using a USB-C power delivery protocol analyzer has unveiled a significant alteration in how the console interacts with external devices. Specifically, this update has seemingly eliminated compatibility with third-party docks, restricting support to official accessories exclusively.
Technical experts have analyzed the situation and noted that the Switch2 now incorporates a novel encryption mechanism, facilitated by a specialized encryption chip. This advancement has rendered the majority of third-party docks ineffective, as they are unable to function correctly with the updated console. At present, there exists only a single third-party dock that has managed to achieve compatibility by closely mimicking the official communication protocol employed by Nintendo.
