Since its debut in 2020, the HomePod mini has emerged as Apple's quintessential compact Wi-Fi smart speaker. Measuring a mere 3.3 inches in height, it boasts compatibility with the Siri voice assistant and seamless music playback capabilities, though it falls short in supporting home theater mode. With the exception of color variants, its hardware configuration has remained untouched since its initial release, fueling persistent industry rumors about an impending successor. In both January and April of 2025, similar scenarios of stock depletion surfaced, yet no new products materialized. Lately, Apple product retailer B&H has officially marked all HomePod mini models as discontinued and halted their sales, while Adorama has shifted them to a pre-sale status. Target has run out of stock for certain color options, and Walmart's inventory is sourced from resellers. Nevertheless, Apple's official website continues to offer the HomePod mini in all available colors. According to Bloomberg, a refreshed HomePod mini could hit the shelves by the end of 2025, equipped with an upgraded S-series chip and Apple's N1 network chip internally. This enhancement promises to elevate audio processing capabilities, overall performance, and network connection stability. While the exterior design may not undergo drastic changes, the introduction of new colors is a possibility.
