On November 4, 2025, Apple officially unveiled a fully operational web-based iteration of the App Store. This innovation allows users to visit apps.apple.com through a web browser, eliminating the necessity of owning an iPhone or other Apple devices. As a result, users can now indulge in a comprehensive app-browsing experience, including searching for and sharing apps seamlessly. Prior to this launch, the domain was merely utilized for displaying individual app pages. It lacked essential features such as a centralized hub for browsing, categorized viewing options, editor-curated content, and a powerful search functionality.

The newly designed web-based App Store closely resembles the native app interface. It boasts a 'Today' tab, official editor recommendations, app charts, and a dedicated section for Apple Arcade gaming. Additionally, it incorporates a built-in native browser search function, enabling users to directly locate and explore apps with ease. Users can effortlessly toggle between browsing apps tailored for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro using a dropdown menu situated at the top of the page.

This update marks a significant departure from Apple's long-standing 'walled garden' approach. It opens up a gateway for potential new users to thoroughly explore Apple's app ecosystem before committing to a purchase. However, it's worth noting that the web-based App Store currently does not support remote installation functionality.
