Recently, the Wuhan Municipal Public Security Traffic Management Detachment successfully cracked the city's inaugural case of intentional "collision-staging" targeting self-driving vehicles. On August 5, 2025, taxi driver He X deliberately accelerated his vehicle and crashed into a 'Luobo Kuaipao' self-driving car that was in the process of changing lanes, causing damage to both vehicles.
An investigation uncovered that on July 23, He X had employed the same tactic to cause an accident with another 'Luobo Kuaipao' test vehicle and had received compensation for it. The two accidents bore striking similarities, with the total amount involved reaching 3,900 yuan.
Faced with this novel type of case, the Traffic Management Detachment promptly assembled a specialized team and initiated an investigation, utilizing a model that combined "data analysis + professional appraisal + legal support". Through correlation analysis and data retrieval, the police confirmed He X's abnormal conduct. Ultimately, the traffic authorities legally held He X fully accountable, imposing a fine of 2,000 yuan and suspending his driver's license for three months.
