Google, working alongside YouGov, carried out a survey involving more than 5,000 users across the United States, India, and Brazil. The findings demonstrated that Android users are on the receiving end of 58% fewer scam texts than those using Apple iOS, suggesting that the Android system offers far superior protection against scams compared to the iPhone. The worldwide problem of mobile fraud is alarmingly serious, with losses surpassing $400 billion in the past year alone. The survey uncovered that the percentage of Android users who didn't receive any scam texts is 58% greater than that of iOS users. Moreover, iOS users are 65% more prone to getting three or more scam texts than Android users. Additionally, Android users report higher levels of satisfaction regarding their device's protective capabilities. Notably, the security edge of Pixel devices stands out, as they are 96% more likely than iPhone users to avoid receiving any scam texts at all. Research institution evaluations show that Android devices excel in terms of security protection, with the Pixel 10 Pro taking the lead in default scam - protection features. Nevertheless, the study's methodology has faced criticism. It relies heavily on users' subjective perceptions and fails to offer crucial information about the sample's composition, which could potentially result in biased findings.
