On October 29th, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) announced that the "Universal Fast-Charging Solution for Mobile Terminals" (Standard No.: ITU-T L.1004), co-developed by CAICT alongside Huawei, OPPO, and Vivo, has successfully cleared the review process by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and has now been formally adopted as an international standard. This achievement represents a historic milestone, marking the first-ever global universal fast-charging standard for mobile terminals endorsed by the ITU. Designed to tackle longstanding industry challenges—such as the lack of uniformity in charging protocols and the incompatibility of chargers—this standard paves the way for consumers to efficiently fast-charge a diverse range of mobile devices from various manufacturers using just a single charger in the near future.
