According to sources within the supply chain, Apple has initiated a recall of iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max units that have been reported to exhibit discoloration problems. These affected devices have been sent to Apple's engineering team for a thorough evaluation to determine the root cause. At present, the incidence of discoloration is relatively low and does not indicate a widespread manufacturing defect. Media reports assure consumers that they can proceed with their purchases with confidence, as Apple is committed to providing robust after-sales support.

Following the investigation, it appears that the discoloration issue may be linked to the manufacturing process. Specifically, the 'Cosmic Orange' color variant of these iPhones undergoes an 'aluminum metal anodizing' procedure. If the critical 'sealing' stage of this process is not carried out correctly—such as using incorrect sealing agent components, introducing contaminants, or omitting the sealing step entirely—it can leave the surface porous. This porous surface then continuously absorbs substances from the environment, ultimately leading to discoloration. The uniform color change observed on the affected phones contradicts the notion of 'improper user cleaning.' Instead, it suggests a consistent bleaching effect caused by daily exposure to light, which occurs when the sealing process fails to adequately protect the surface.
