Recently, Apple took the decisive step of removing two dating apps that had sparked considerable controversy from the App Store. These apps were Tea, which was mainly designed for female users, and TeaOnHer, its counterpart tailored for male users.
Back in July of this year, a major security incident rocked these two apps. They suffered a severe data breach, during which tens of thousands of sensitive pieces of user information were leaked. This included user ID photos and private chat records. The incident quickly grabbed the attention of both the industry and users on a large scale.
In an official statement, Apple clarified that the apps were removed because they failed to meet the stringent content review standards and user privacy protection requirements set by the company. Additionally, Apple had received a substantial number of user complaints regarding these apps, which further contributed to the decision to take them down from the App Store.
