Apple's ultra-slim iPhone Air model has failed to meet market expectations, resulting in a substantial decrease in its production and shipment volumes throughout the supply chain. Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that suppliers are gearing up to slash production capacity by over 80% from late 2025 through the first quarter of 2026. Moreover, some components with longer production cycles are slated to be phased out by the end of this year. Initially, Apple had projected the manufacture of 10 to 15 million iPhone Air units in the latter half of the year. However, due to lackluster consumer response, the tech giant has been compelled to revise its production approach. Although the iPhone 17 series has witnessed robust overall sales, the iPhone Air stands out as an outlier. Consequently, Apple has made the decision to curtail its production by roughly 1 million units and reallocate capacity towards the more sought-after standard and Pro models.
