Drawing on insights from numerous reliable sources, it is anticipated that Apple will unveil its inaugural foldable iPhone in September 2026, coinciding with the release of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. The journey towards this milestone will begin in March 2025, when the device enters Foxconn's rigorous New Product Introduction phase. Trial production is slated to kick off between September and October 2025, paving the way for extensive stock preparations in the second quarter of 2026.
The screen for this innovative device will be sourced from Samsung Display, incorporating Corning's cutting-edge ultra-thin UTG glass. It will boast a book-style inward folding mechanism, with a thickness of 9 to 9.5 millimeters when folded and a mere 4.5 to 4.8 millimeters when unfolded. The outer screen will span 5.5 inches, while the inner display will expand to an impressive 7.8 inches, both supporting ProMotion's adaptive refresh rates for a seamless user experience.
Under the hood, the device is expected to be powered by the A20 series processor, complemented by LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage for optimal performance. In a departure from traditional designs, the foldable iPhone will eschew a physical SIM card slot, opting instead for exclusive eSIM support. For the U.S. market, the starting price is projected to range between $1,800 and $2,500, translating to approximately 13,000 to 18,000 yuan.
