On September 30, technology website MacRumors reported that following the launch of the first-generation iPad in 2010, Apple conducted tests on a second-generation iPad prototype. This particular prototype was notable for having a mere 8GB of storage. Recently, a well-known YouTube creator, AppleDemoYT, uploaded a video displaying this prototype, which was in the Engineering Verification Test (EVT) phase. Produced in 2011, the device bears the identifier 'iPad 2,4' and operates on Apple's proprietary internal testing system, SwitchBoard, instead of the standard iOS. The device's back features a distinct '8GB' label, suggesting that Apple once contemplated introducing a more budget-friendly iPad model with reduced storage capacity to enhance its price competitiveness. Nevertheless, around 2012, as the sizes of applications and media files expanded rapidly, the 8GB storage capacity started to fall short. Furthermore, during the same timeframe, the iPhone lineup also began to phase out the 8GB variant. Consequently, Apple decided against releasing this particular model.
