Recently, the highly anticipated Meizu 22 flagship smartphone made its official debut, much to the delight of Meizu enthusiasts. Huang Zhipan, the newly appointed CEO of Star & Meizu, made his inaugural public appearance and shared in-depth insights into Meizu's strategic vision and product roadmap with the 'Path to Prosperity' column. He revealed that the Meizu 22 was initially slated for release during this year's 618 shopping extravaganza but faced delays due to strategic business realignments and R&D hurdles. Despite starting at a competitive price point of 2999 yuan, the device is currently being marketed at a loss. Huang Zhipan underscored Meizu's unwavering commitment to its smartphone lineup, emphasizing that, despite short-term financial setbacks in the smartphone sector, the company has no intentions of abandoning this critical product category. He firmly believes that smartphones will continue to serve as the primary terminal devices for the next decade or two. Meizu aims to bolster sales and elevate user experience through relentless innovation and upgrades, with the aspiration of achieving financial sustainability in the smartphone business within the next three years. Regarding product strategy, Meizu's flagship digital series will maintain an annual upgrade cycle, with the next iteration projected to launch in the latter half of next year. The Note series, on the other hand, will prioritize cost-effectiveness and a lasting user experience. Concurrently, Meizu is venturing into the realm of modular smartphones, with expectations to unveil these innovative products by the end of this year or early next year. However, the company has no immediate plans to enter the foldable screen market.
