On September 19, 2025, Uber Eats made an announcement stating that it would team up with the Israeli drone firm Flytrex. Together, they aim to initiate a pilot program for drone-based food delivery services in the United States before the year's end. Flytrex, which already partners with platforms like Walmart and DoorDash, has secured the 'Beyond Visual Line of Sight' (BVLOS) authorization from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This permit enables Flytrex to operate drones even when the pilot is unable to visually observe the aircraft directly. Additionally, Uber plans to inject financial resources into Flytrex, with the goal of expediting the advancement and widespread adoption of this cutting-edge technology.
