On September 18, 2025, Apple admitted that, under direct and intense LED lighting conditions, the iPhone 17 series and iPhone Air cameras may occasionally capture photos displaying black squares and white curves. This issue was initially identified by CNN reporter Henry Casey during a product review. In high-intensity lighting scenarios, such as concerts, approximately one in ten photos exhibited these visual anomalies. Apple clarified that this occurrence is exceedingly rare and is triggered solely when an extremely bright LED light directly illuminates the camera lens. At present, Apple has pinpointed a technical solution and intends to address the issue through forthcoming software updates. However, the exact release date for the update has not been disclosed, necessitating user patience.
