Shortly following the launch of Apple's iPhone 17, whispers and speculations regarding the iPhone 18 have already started to make the rounds. Recently, a post on Weibo alleged that the 'Dynamic Island' on the upcoming iPhone 18 could be downsized, yet Face ID would remain above the screen rather than being integrated beneath it.

Display industry expert Ross Young and Bloomberg's seasoned journalist Mark Gurman have both weighed in, suggesting that the Dynamic Island cutouts on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, slated for release in 2026, will see a notable reduction in size. This reduction is expected to be achieved by relocating some sensors beneath the display, potentially leveraging the innovative Metalens technology.

The iPhone 18 Pro series is also anticipated to incorporate under-display Face ID technology, leaving only a tiny punch-hole for the front-facing camera. Furthermore, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup might be outfitted with Apple's second-generation, in-house developed 5G baseband chip, introduce a cutting-edge LTPO+ screen panel technology, and feature a variable aperture design in its wide-angle primary camera lens, enhancing its photographic capabilities.
