During its 'Awe Dropping' product launch event held on September 9, 2025, Apple announced that it would extend the free satellite emergency SOS service for iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 device users by an additional year. Originally set to expire in November 2024, the service has now been extended until the end of 2025, allowing users to send emergency service messages via text when there is no cellular network or Wi-Fi coverage.
