Diamondback Energy, a prominent independent oil producer in the Permian Basin of the United States, has issued a cautionary note that the global market is anticipated to be inundated with a substantial surge of crude oil supply in the forthcoming months. In response to this anticipated glut, the company will implement a $100 million reduction in capital expenditures, revise production projections downwards, and temporarily suspend certain fracturing operations. In a communication addressed to investors, CEO Travis Mills underscored that the second half of the year is projected to witness a substantial increase in global crude oil supply, prompting the company to adopt measures aimed at sustaining stable oil production levels while curbing expenditures. This strategic move aligns with the company's May prognosis, which foretold the peaking of US shale oil production, subsequently witnessed by a 12% decline in domestic crude oil drilling activities, reaching its lowest point in nearly four years.
