On Thursday, Apple announced a significant update to its app age rating system by introducing three new categories: 13+, 16+, and 18+, while simultaneously discontinuing the 12+ and 17+ categories. The existing 4+ and 9+ categories will remain in place. To ensure compliance with the new system, developers will be required to respond to updated age-rating questions designed to identify potentially sensitive content within their apps. Additionally, developers will have the option to update their app's ratings to align with one of the new categories.
