This innovative approach utilizes the built-in accelerometers in these phones to detect seismic waves and employs sophisticated algorithms to analyze these signals for the identification of earthquakes. Over its initial three years of operation, the system has impressively detected 11,000 earthquakes and issued timely alerts to users for quakes with a magnitude of 4.5 and above. In certain instances, its performance rivals that of traditional earthquake monitoring systems.
