During morning and evening rush hours, the repetitive opening and closing of turnstile gates frequently pose a significant obstacle to passenger flow efficiency. In the conventional setup, each gate would wait for the preceding passenger to pass through before closing and subsequently reopening for the next passenger, often leading to congestion. To alleviate this issue, since last year, subways in Shenzhen, Fuzhou, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Hefei, and other cities have progressively introduced the 'always-open gate' system. Under this innovative mode, the turnstile gates remain open by default, allowing passengers to swiftly pass through by simply swiping their card or scanning the code, eliminating the need to wait for the gate to cycle through its opening and closing process. This transformation has markedly enhanced traffic efficiency by approximately 20%.
