MIIT Emphasizes Speeding Up 5G-Advanced Deployment and 6G R&D

During today's press conference hosted by the State Council Information Office, officials announced that China has achieved a significant milestone with a total of 4.55 million 5G base stations and a 5G user penetration rate exceeding 79%. To further propel technological advancements, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has outlined plans to expedite the deployment of 5G-Advanced (5G-A) and intensify research and development efforts for 6G technology. Notably, by the end of June, the number of 5G mobile phone users had soared to 1.118 billion. These figures were shared by Xie Cun, Director of the Department of Information and Communication Development at the MIIT.
