CATL and BHP have recently inked a memorandum of cooperation, aiming to strengthen their collaboration in various areas including the electrification of mining equipment, the development of rapid-charging infrastructure, energy storage, and battery recycling. This partnership involves undertaking joint research and development efforts to create battery solutions tailored for heavy mining equipment and railway locomotives, as well as the establishment of supporting fast-charging facilities. Furthermore, the exploration of energy storage systems for implementation in BHP's global mining operations is also part of the agreement. The ultimate goal of this cooperation is to accelerate the electrification of mining activities.
