The pioneering full-flow shipboard carbon capture system, independently developed by the 711 Institute of China Shipbuilding Group, has triumphantly accomplished ship-to-ship liquid carbon dioxide unloading on a colossal 14,000 TEU container ship. This groundbreaking achievement signifies that China has now established a comprehensive ecological closed loop, encompassing carbon dioxide capture, liquefaction, storage, and ultimately, ship-to-ship unloading and reuse. Boasting a capture rate exceeding 80% and a purity level of 99.9%, this system offers an innovative Chinese approach to mitigating international shipping emissions. Compared to the traditional ship-to-shore connection method, the ship-to-ship unloading technology significantly enhances operational flexibility, fosters the advancement of the carbon capture, transportation, utilization, and storage (CCUS) industry chain, and accelerates the global shipping industry's transition towards sustainability.
