Microsoft has recently unveiled a new PowerShell script tailored for Windows 10 and 11 users, aimed at facilitating the restoration of the inetpub folder that might have inadvertently been deleted during system updates. Earlier this April, after installing the cumulative update KB5055523, some users encountered an empty "inetpub" folder in the root directory of their system's C drive. This folder, associated with the IIS (Internet Information Services) service, is generally not utilized by everyday users. The script provided by Microsoft allows users to restore this folder without activating the IIS service and simultaneously addresses related security vulnerabilities.
