The national college entrance examination commenced in 2025, attracting a total of 13.35 million candidates. For the first time, Shanxi, Henan, and six other provinces, part of the fifth wave of comprehensive reforms in college entrance exams, implemented the 'New College Entrance Examination'. These provinces adopted the '3+1+2' model, alongside adjustments to the exam schedule and the process of submitting volunteer forms. To date, 29 provinces nationwide have successfully implemented the new exam format, with six provinces opting for the '3+3' model and the remaining 23 provinces adopting the '3+1+2' model. These changes have also led to corresponding modifications in admission and enrollment procedures.
