Microsoft has officially announced that its environmentally conscious 'E-Tree' initiative will come to a close on July 4, 2025. This innovative program enabled users to engage in tasks across various applications, including Microsoft Edge, MSN Weather, and Microsoft Wallet, to accumulate energy points and nurture virtual trees. Once a virtual tree reached the milestone of 10,000 energy points, Microsoft would partner with the Eden Reforestation Projects to plant a real tree in Mozambique. Nonetheless, owing to a lack of sustained user participation, Microsoft has opted to terminate the project. As an alternative, Microsoft encourages users to continue contributing to public welfare endeavors through platforms like Microsoft Rewards, where accumulated points can be redeemed for charitable donations.
