The High Court of Karnataka in India has issued an order for a nationwide ban on the encrypted email service Proton Mail. This ruling stems from a lawsuit initiated by Muthoot Designers in New Delhi, alleging that its employees had received emails containing offensive and vulgar material transmitted via Proton Mail. Proton Mail, renowned for its robust security features that include end-to-end encryption to safeguard users' email privacy, is a widely used email service provider. Nonetheless, this judicial decision effectively denies Indian users access to the service. As of yet, there is no indication whether Proton Mail will pursue legal recourse or challenge this decision.
