Fuyao University of Science and Technology, established in the Fuzhou High-tech Zone, was conceived by Cho Tak Wong and generously funded with a RMB 10 billion donation from the Heren Charity Foundation. The university operates as a private institution with public support and a non-profit mission. At its helm stands President Wang Shuguo, a former president of Xi'an Jiaotong University, with Xu Fei and Chen Jianqun serving as vice presidents. The Ministry of Education has officially sanctioned the establishment of the university, which will initially offer four undergraduate programs, accommodating up to 8,000 full-time students. In 2025, the university aims to enroll no more than 100 students, charging an annual tuition fee of RMB 5,460. The institution adopts an integrated educational model encompassing undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs, allowing undergraduate students to pursue dual degrees. By 2026, Fuyao University anticipates having a faculty of 300 full-time teachers and 150 visiting scholars.
