In 2024, global renewable energy power generation witnessed unprecedented growth, with clean energy accounting for over 40% of total global electricity production, as revealed in a report by the esteemed UK energy think tank 'Unburnable Carbon'. Notably, the surge in renewable energy generation amounted to 858 terawatt-hours (TWh), a new record high, comprising 40.9% of the global total. Solar energy has emerged as a pivotal force in driving the global energy transition, with its power generation doubling over the past three years. The report highlights that China contributed more than half of the global increase in solar and wind power generation in 2024.
