Indian Information Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced in New Delhi on Wednesday that India will allocate 145 billion rupees (approximately $1.5 billion) in subsidies to develop 92 gigawatt-hours of energy storage capacity, aimed at better integrating its rapidly expanding renewable energy generation facilities and transmission grids. The financial support plan will run until 2031 and is designed to help energy storage companies commence operations during the early market stage. India's current energy storage capacity stands at about 54 gigawatt-hours, and the government aims to reach 411 gigawatt-hours by the 2031-32 fiscal year.
