The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) outlined its approach to cultivating and strengthening new growth drivers at a press conference in its "Striving for the 15th Five-Year Plan" series. A relevant official stated that the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation is marked by breakthroughs across multiple fields, and that the many possible directions for future industries make it impractical to pursue them all. After comprehensively weighing multiple factors, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council have clearly designated key future industries for development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period — including quantum technology, biomanufacturing, hydrogen and nuclear fusion energy, brain-computer interfaces, embodied intelligence, and 6G mobile communications. They have also called for stronger overall planning and coordination under the principle of a nationwide unified approach, supporting local governments in selecting subdivided fields where they have an established foundation and comparative advantages, and advancing them in light of local conditions.
