The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced at its "Striving for the 15th Five-Year Plan" press conference series that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, priority will be given to the development of science and education infrastructure and major national science and technology infrastructure. A batch of national science and technology programs will be organized and implemented, and the quality of science and technology supply for basic research and original innovation will be improved. Ren Zhongbao, Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation and High-Tech Development, stated that the layout of national science and technology innovation platforms and bases will be improved, and a batch of national emerging industry innovation centers and national industrial technology engineering centers will be newly built or upgraded to advance the development of industrial common technologies. The principal role of enterprises in science and technology innovation will be strengthened, and enterprises will be supported in leading the implementation of national science and technology projects and the construction of innovation platforms, especially basic research platforms. A batch of industrial innovation projects will be planned and implemented, and unconventional measures will be taken to promote decisive breakthroughs in key core technology research across the entire chain in key fields.
