On October 28, the People's Government of Beijing Municipality unveiled a strategic plan. This plan aims to propel the high-end development of the wind power sector, with a particular emphasis on the research and development (R&D) as well as equipment manufacturing of perovskite solar cells and high-efficiency photovoltaic (PV) modules. It also promotes the widespread adoption of building-integrated photovoltaics. Concurrently, the plan accelerates the industrialization process of geothermal energy and heat pumps, drives forward the R&D and production of key technical equipment, nurtures leading enterprises in the heat pump equipment manufacturing sector, and encourages their large-scale deployment. Furthermore, it bolsters the R&D of smart grid technology and equipment, with a focus on core components like power chips. The plan also enhances research in key technologies for intelligent power transmission and transformation equipment, expands the scale of equipment manufacturing in Beijing, and explores innovative business models such as vehicle-grid interaction and virtual power plants. Lastly, it fosters the clustering of the new energy storage industry, spurs the R&D of battery technologies including solid-state and flow batteries, and facilitates energy storage applications on both the grid side and user side, with the ambition to achieve an installed capacity of 600,000 kilowatts for new energy storage.
