According to an anonymous official from the Presidential Office, South Korea may once again postpone the implementation of the capital gains tax on cryptocurrency profits by approximately two years. Originally scheduled to take effect in January 2027, this tax has already been delayed three times, and if postponed again, it will mark the fourth delay. The Presidential Office is considering the delay, partly due to the fact that the United States will not join the OECD's cryptographic asset reporting framework until 2029, making it difficult for South Korea to obtain overseas transaction data.
